Project Management FrameworksLarge corporate-change programmes usually require an established and respected governance framework for control and reporting. We have found that the PRINCE2 project management framework is both an easily-tailored and a scalable method, especially for management of larger projects and programmes.

In particular, we have found:

  • PRINCE2 stages can be mapped onto one or more timeboxes for greater programme control;

  • PRINCE2 work packages can be mapped flexibly onto deliverable work elements; and

  • that PRINCE2 practices can be mapped onto agile delivery methodologies to deliver rapid-business benefit within the control of a recognised governance framework.

It is worth noting that we have found that for small- or medium-sized projects, the management elements incorporated within DSDM or RUP are often sufficient.
