1) Whitepaper Review: "Using the Incremental Commitment Model" by Boehm and Lane

An interesting recent whitepaper has caught my attention recently. Professor Barry Boehm and a colleague have updated Boehm’s venerable systems-development method known as the Spiral Model. The authors label this updated method the Incremental Commitment Model (ICM).

The paper outlines an update to the model by adopting some of the latest thinking in agile development, progressive acquisition and concurrent-engineering. The result is an up-to-date iterative development method that is scalable from medium-sized software projects to the largest systems engineering programmes.  Read more...


2) Agile Business Conference 2007

The Agile Business Conference 2007 was held on 2/3 October and was the usual mixture of meeting old friends, making new ones and much thoughtful presentation and discussion. Among the highlights were seminars with Ken Schwaber, the inventor of the Scrum software development method, and Mary Poppendieck who popularised the Lean software development method. Read more...
